Not material. Experience

Located in downtown Milan, the De Castelli showroom explores new ways of experiencing material through space.

Working with a company that combines artisanal techniques and advanced industrial processes, the project translates the qualities of metal into an immersive spatial installation. Architecture becomes a medium to enhance perception — transforming a traditional showroom into an experiential environment.

At the entrance, two large dome-like surfaces define the space and introduce a new form of interaction. Through the integration of transducers, the metal surfaces are transformed into sound-emitting elements, allowing visitors to physically engage with the material.

Where sound, space and matter converge

By approaching and touching the surface, users can feel vibrations and hear a layered soundscape — blending the noise of De Castelli’s production processes with a musical composition. This creates a direct and sensory connection between material, production and perception.

Through this approach, the project goes beyond representation, turning the showroom into a dynamic interface where craftsmanship, technology and experience converge.

An Immersive Experience Through Material Augmentation

The De Castelli showroom in Milan transforms metal into an immersive and interactive experience.

At the intersection of design, technology and craftsmanship, the project redefines how material can be perceived — engaging visitors through sound, touch and spatial interaction.
