Stefano Andreani
Architect and Engineer / Principal

Profile
Over the past fifteen years, Stefano has worked on multi-scale projects in Europe, Asia and mostly the United States as an Associate at the Boston-based design firm INVIVIA. In addition, he frequently collaborates with leading international architects including Rafael Moneo, Winy Maas of MVRDV and Cino Zucchi.
Complementing his professional activities with academic work, Stefano is a Lecturer in Architecture at the Graduate School of Design of Harvard University. He has published almost fifty scientific articles and book chapters, and is a regular contributor of the leading architecture magazine Domus.
Stefano received a Master in Design Technology from Harvard GSD, focusing on computational design and robotic fabrication methods for novel building systems. He also holds a Master in Architectural Engineering and a Bachelor in Civil Engineering from the University of Perugia, where he has thought for a couple of years before then moving to the United States.
Teaching & Research
Pursuing his research at the intersection of innovation-driven architecture and digitally-informed urban design, Stefano is a Research Associate and Project Manager at the Responsive Environments and Artifacts Lab (REAL) at Harvard GSD. At the GSD, he co-teaches with REAL director Allen Sayegh the course "Responsive Environments."
Since 2013, he coordinates a research initiative between Harvard GSD and the University of Bergamo on the Future of Cities. Using the cities of Boston and Bergamo as urban prototypes, the project engages with students, researchers and stakeholders to develop forward-looking visions and innovative solutions—currently with a focus on urban mobility.
