Olivetti Leadership Institute

This design proposal aims to reconfigure and give new life to one of the most prominent buildings within the former Olivetti industrial campus in Ivrea, Italy. The building, known as Social Service Center, was designed in the 1960s by the same architects who built the Olivetti factory in 1937 – Luigi Figini and Gino Pollini. The objective of this restyling project is to enhance the architectural qualities of the building and its functional potential at both cultural and social levels. The intervention particularly aims to amplify the spatial characteristics of the original structure, but at the same time it introduces a few contemporary solutions that transform the building into a dynamic and attractive place. The project also takes up and reinterprets that character of permeability towards the city and relationship with the community that was lost over time.
